The eighth in a series of Fluid Mixing Conferences organised by the Institution of Chemical Engineers Fluid Mixing Processes Subject Group was held at King's College London, University of London, on 10-12 April 2006. The conference aimed to provide a forum for both the formal presentation of the latest fluid mixing research findings, as well as for informal discussions between participants and contact between university- and industry-based researchers to stimulate debate and encourage incorporation of the latest research findings and methodology in mixing practice. Conference sessions included, inter alia, topics on fundamentals of mixing processes, novel simulation and diagnostic techniques, single- and multi-phase mixing, mixing of complex fluids, suspensions and dispersions, emulsification, mixing in polymerization processes and phase inversion, laminar and chaotic mixing, mixing through oscillations and pulsations, mixing within fluidic devices, new developments and advances in mixing technology. A Manufacturers' Forum accompanied the conference. Conference EvaluationThe organizing committee thanks all participants who helped with the evaluation process to assist us improve future conferences. The average ratings for each heading are shown below. The average rating for the conference was a very satisfying 4.7 out of 5 and the organising committee is delighted that the conference was well appreciated.
Chemical Engineering Science - Special IssueA special issue of Chemical Engineering Science on Fluid Mixing edited by Prof. M.
